After graduating from college, Art moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked at the Greenbrier Resort. He then moved to Chicago, where he worked at the Ritz-Carlton and the Four Seasons Hotel. In 1997, he opened his own restaurant, Table Fifty-Two, which quickly became a popular destination for Southern-style cuisine.
Art gained national recognition in 1999 when he was hired as Oprah Winfrey’s personal chef. He worked for Oprah for over a decade, cooking for her and her guests on a daily basis. During his time as Oprah’s chef, he appeared on numerous television shows, including Oprah’s show, where he would share his recipes and cooking tips.
Television Career
In 2006, Art appeared on the third season of Bravo’s Top Chef Masters, where he competed against other renowned chefs. He went on to win the competition, which helped to raise his profile even further.
