Directions

Step 1

Wash the basmati rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes.

Step 2

In a pot, heat oil and fry sliced onions until golden brown. Remove half for garnishing.

Add garlic and ginger paste to the remaining onions in the pot and sauté for 2 minutes.

Step 4

Add chicken pieces and fry until they turn white. Mix in yogurt, cumin, coriander powder, turmeric, and salt.

Step 5

Cook the chicken mixture until the oil separates. Add green chilies and a cup of water. Simmer for 10 minutes.

Step 6

Boil the soaked rice until 70% cooked. Layer the chicken and partially cooked rice in a pot, sprinkle fried onions, cover, and cook on low heat for 20 minutes.
