Directions

Step 1

Wash the basmati rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain the water and set aside.

Step 2

Clean the Pabda fish and marinate it with turmeric, salt, and mustard oil. Let it sit for 15 minutes.

Step 3

Heat mustard oil in a pan, add sliced onions, and sauté until golden brown. Add ginger and garlic paste and cook for another minute.

Step 4

Add cumin and coriander powder to the pan.

Step 5

Stir well and add green chilies.

Step 6

Add the soaked rice to the pan and fry for 2-3 minutes. Pour in the water and bring it to a boil.

Step 7

Place the marinated fish on top of the rice. Cover and steam on low heat until the rice is cooked and the fish is tender.

Step 8

Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with a side of salad or raita.
