Step 1
Wash and rinse the rice thoroughly. Cook it according to package instructions and keep it aside.

Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and set aside.

In a bowl, mix soy sauce, sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil to make the teriyaki sauce.

Add the chicken pieces to the sauce and marinate for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

Heat a pan over medium heat and add the marinated chicken along with the sauce.

Cook the chicken for 10–12 minutes until it starts to brown and the sauce thickens slightly.

Mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and add to the pan. Stir well to thicken the sauce further.

Let the chicken simmer until it’s fully cooked and the sauce has a glossy finish.

Plate the cooked rice.

Top it with the glazed chicken.

Garnish with chopped spring onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds before serving.
