Suji Halwa (Rava Halwa) is a classic South Asian dessert made from semolina roasted in ghee and cooked with sugar syrup until it becomes soft, rich, and aromatic. This quick and comforting sweet dish is often prepared during breakfast, festive occasions, and religious gatherings. Flavored with cardamom and garnished with nuts, it delivers a warm, melt-in-mouth texture that pairs perfectly with puri or enjoyed on its own. The recipe is simple, requires minimal ingredients, and cooks in under 30 minutes, making it ideal for beginners and busy kitchens. Its golden color, nutty aroma, and silky consistency make it a timeless favorite across Indian and Pakistani households. You can adjust sweetness and richness easily based on preference.

Step 1

Heat ghee in a heavy pan on medium flame and add suji. Roast it slowly while stirring continuously until it turns light golden brown and releases a nutty aroma.

Step 2

In a separate pot, bring water to a boil and add crushed cardamom. Let it simmer so the flavor infuses properly into the water.

Step 3

Carefully pour the hot water mixture into the roasted suji while stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Keep the flame low for smooth texture.

Step 4

Add sugar gradually and mix well until it dissolves completely

Step 5

Cook until the mixture thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan

Step 6

Garnish with almonds and cook for another 2 minutes. Serve hot for best taste and soft texture.
