Scrumptious urad dal vadas with a spicy twist thanks to pepper!

URAD PEPPER VADA

Ingredients

1½ cups Tata Sampann Whole Urad Dal
Salt to taste
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 tsps crushed black peppercorns
2 tbsps chopped fresh coconut
6-8 curry leaves, finely chopped
1-2 green chillies, finely chopped
1½ tbsps freshly chopped coriander leaves
Oil for deep frying

Method

1. In a large bowl, add Tata Sampann Whole Urad Dal and wash it using sufficient water. Transfer into another bowl, add sufficient water and soak for 6-8 hours.
2. In a blender jar, add the soaked urad dal along with salt, and a little water. Blend to a fine paste and transfer to a bowl.
3. Add onion, crushed black peppercorns, coconut, curry leaves, green chillies and chopped coriander. Mix well.
4. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai, drop in portions of the prepared mixture with hands and deep fry on medium heat till golden and crisp. Drain on an absorbent paper.
5. Serve hot with red coconut chutney.
